Partial denture FAQs

"What are partial dentures?"

Partial dentures are dentures that replace only a few missing teeth.

"How do you wear a removable partial denture?"

Removable partial dentures are attached to your natural teeth with metal clasps or devices called precision attachments.

"How long will it take to get used to wearing
a partial denture?"

Your partial denture may feel awkward or bulky for the first few weeks, but your mouth will eventually get used to it. It's not unusual to feel minor irritation or soreness. You need to schedule an appointment at the Denture Center for regular fit adjustments to relieve any soreness.

"Which type of partial denture is right for you?"

Partial Acrylic Denture--Basic removable appliance for patients, who are missing some teeth, meticulously fitted for your specific needs. Partial Denture with Metal Framework--Scrupulously detailed for secure fit and increased durability. Flexi Partial Denture--Fracture resistant, flexible acrylic, without using metal clips for improved aesthetics. Cusil-Style Partial Denture--Also a cosmetic approach but with reduced stress on remaining teeth. Semi-Precision Partial Denture / Over-dentures--Crowns with specially fitted insertion sights, or "Sterngold Attachments", classify this as a highly specialized appliance.

"How long should you wear a partial denture?"

You should be able to wear your partial denture all day long. Generally, your mouth tissues need to rest at some point. Either take them out when you go to sleep or twice a day for 30 minutes. Contact us for more information about partial dentures in New York City.

"Will the partial denture change the way you speak?"

Your partial denture may help your speech. It can be difficult to speak clearly when you are missing teeth. However, it also will take time to get used to it.
